In a case of one track mindedness Planned Parenthood is up to its usual tricks by distributing free contraception and abortifacients, trying to exploit this tragedy to further a pro-abortion agenda. I will have more information on how you can help the real relief effort tomorrow.
Well, Tony Perkins gets points for being accurate. Here's what Planned Parenthood of Houston is doing:
Did you escape the hurricane without your birth control? As a courtesy to women fleeing Hurricane Katrina, we will offer one free cycle (one month) of birth control or one free Emergency Contraception kit to women presenting to a PPHSET [Planned Parenthood of Houston and Southeast Texas] clinic with a valid Louisiana or Mississippi driver's license. We also are offering one depo injection at a total fee of $41.00 (we are waiving the office visit charge, and offering the depo at a 50% discount). This offer is good until September 10th. For those at The Astrodome, we are one block east of the ENSEMBLE Metro Rail stop, call 713-522-3976.
Planned Parenthood is not passing out condoms in grade schools. They are filling prescriptions for birth control. The real objection might be to the distribution of emergency contraception, which strikes me as an alarmingly obvious idea considering the reports of rape coming from New Orleans.
By the way, I think you can still get free boner pills anywhere in the country, just by calling an 800 number. No hurricane will interfere with that.
