Buying ink by the barrel

Posted by: Hammer / 11:59 AM

Was it Mark Twain who advised not to pick fights with those who buy ink by the barrel? Whomever said it, it goes doubly true for those who delivery ridicule by the dump truck.

This week, the White House took aim at The Onion alleging improper use of the presidential seal:

The White House has a lot on its plate, but it still has time to demand that "The Onion", an online publication that often spoofs the Bush administration, stop using the presidential seal on its Web site.

...Thankfully, "The Onion" has not capitulated to pressure from the White House, as of today the presidential seal is still featured on the parody Web site.

No, the Onion has not backed down. Instead, they seem to be following Sean Connery's advice from the Untouchables: they send one of yours to the hospital, you send one of theirs to the morgue. Enjoy it, Laura.
