Proposed Mississippi Holidays, January 19

In honor of
Mississippi's grand tradition of state holidays, 3WN humbly suggests the following special days of recognition for
January 19:
- 1829 - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust premieres. Don't underestimate the intangible benefits of "cultural heritage" and "Southern pride" when selling your soul.
- 1915 - German zeppelins bomb the cities of Great Yarmouth and King's Lynn in the United Kingdom killing more than 20, in the first major aerial bombardment of a civilian target. Mississippi has helped us perfect aerial bombardment of civilians at Kessler Air Force Base.
- 1920 - The United States Senate votes against joining the League of Nations. Good on the Senate for voting against the black helicopters 16 years before they would exist.
- 1981 - United States and Iranian officials sign an agreement to release 52 American hostages after 14 months of captivity. On this day, we commemorate the sacrifices made by the hostages and their families, yet stand tall knowing that we never negotiate with terrorists.
Bonus: today is Confederate Heroes Day in Texas! Not to be confused with April, which is Confederate Heritage Month in Texas.
