She's going to be a diplomat?

Rice Links Iraq Withdrawal to Security.
Here's the pitch to Biden:
"The time for diplomacy is now," she said in a remark that appeared aimed at critics who accuse the administration of go-it-alone tactics.
Biden takes a big swing:
That brought a sharp retort from the panel's senior Democrat, Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware: "The time for diplomacy is long overdue."
And he crushes it!
I guess one poor choice of words is not bad for America's top diplomat.
[Rice said] that the Dec. 26 Asian tsunami presented a "wonderful opportunity" for the United States to reach out to countries in the Muslim world and build goodwill, a remark that Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., branded as insensitive to the widespread deaths and destruction caused.
And the evacuation of Fallujah gave residents a wonderful opportunity to travel!
Anyway, she was nervous, but generally competent, right?
"I would not presume to try to give the president military advice, but I do believe that he got good military advice and I do believe that the plan and the forces that we went in with were appropriate to the task," Rice said.
The
chief advisor to the President of the United States on national security issues would not presume to advise the President? What does she think she's supposed to do as NSA?
