Is Sen. Smilin' Norm Coleman (R-MN) too clever for his own good? Brother Josh at NET-workers points out that the protections for the sugar beet industry that Coleman relied upon to support CAFTA expire in 2007.
Coleman, of course, will be up for re-election in 2008. When the 40,000 Minnesotans involved in the sugar beet industry really feel the squeeze of CAFTA. Of course, the farmers will all vote for Smilin' Norm, since he's done such a good job of protecting them from the estate tax.
