What kind of geek would I be...
...if I didn't mention this and post a photo in his honor. I chose one showing him in command, which seems an appropriate way to mark his passing. That and drinking something green.

By all accounts he was a gentleman to all fans. I remember an interview he did for a radio station I now detest. For half an hour he had them howling as he offered up hilarious Shatner stories.
And then there's this priceless exchange:
...so, you hit the Klingon because he insulted the Enterprise, not because he insulted your captain?'
'Aye, Sir!'
'I see...'
'Well, Sir, it were a matter of pride!'
R.I.P., Mr. Doohan. Scotty will live on forever.

I almost said something about that scene in my post! It is a classic. "He compared the Enterprise to a garbage scow!"
