SUSA has Pawlenty's approval up 11 points in 2 months and 9 points in the last month. Was he passing out fifty dollar bills at the State Fair? What gives?
Guess here is that the 43% approval in the summer was voter frustration with the government shutdown. That's a fading memory now, so Pawlenty is back to his pre-shutdown approval rating.
Of course, massive giveaways to fund three new stadiums will reverse the trend. Especially if Pawlenty gets his way and avoids local referenda on local taxes.
By the by, the Packers did this the right way, and Minnesotans should take notice. The residents paying the stadium tax actually voted for the tax. Now they get the opportunity for single game tickets. Viking fans might wonder why what's good enough for Cheeseheads isn't good enough for them. (Oh, you might want to ask Brewer fans how that retractable roof stadium is working out, too.)
