The purpose of his presidency

Posted by: Hammer / 3:37 PM

Would many doubt that Bush's legacy will be the invasion of Iraq? I dunno. Seems to me that Iraq is the defining purpose of Bush's presidency. And how's that going?

In the same survey, only 40% of Americans approve, while 59% disapprove of the way Bush is handling Iraq. Fifty-three percent of Americans think going to war in Iraq was a mistake, similar to the 54% who said this in early August.

Oh, and how about that Iraqi constitution which will solve so many problems?

A source in the Iraqi parliament said that further negotiations on the issue of the identity of Iraq (as an Arab state) had proved inconclusive, and that the draft would be printed and voted on as is. The Sunni Arabs had wanted an acknowledgment that Iraq is an Arab country, but the draft constitution says only that it forms part of the Muslim world and that its Arabs form part of the Arab world. ... [A] leader of the Iraqi Islamic Party (Sunni) said that the amendment was not sufficient to mollify Sunni Arab concerns.
