Identity theft
New laws might help prevent identity theft. Know what would really help? Credit card companies with an ounce of integrity. Remember, nothing is more important to these companies than to get more credit into anyone's hands who will take it. More credit than you can handle; more credit than you deserve. Credit card companies make so much money by keeping people in debt forever that they can afford to send cards out with credulity bordering on criminality.
