Mr. Sponge at Minvolved gave mad props to the Big Question. I concur. Great nuggets from Makeover Mark Kennedy.
Specifically, we find Kennedy's application of the 5% doctrine. Kennedy takes down Klobuchar's claim that she's a prosecutor:
*Assaulted the ads of his opponent, Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar, on the ground that she should not call herself a prosecutor if she seldom (or never) prosecutes cases personally: “I’ve been waiting to hear the review of whether or not Amy is a prosecutor. What case did she ever prosecute?…If you say you are a prosecutor — look it up in the dictionary and you’ll see what it means.”
On the other hand, Kennedy's latest ad says "when good ideas cross party lines, we should too" despite the fact that Kennedy's Party Unity score has ranged from 92 to 97% since 2001.
See, if Kennedy "seldom or never" crosses party lines it defines him. If Klobuchar "seldom or never" personally prosecutes a case, she's not a prosecutor. Pretty convenient, eh? But then, Kennedy is all about convenience:
[Kennedy]“The question though is, if you are going to cherry pick which measure you use [a reference to my persistent questions about his “party unity score, which he implied had been chosen to make him look bad], ignore those that are put before you [a reference to the number of Democratic co-sponsors of his bills] and, also — what is the party unity score for my opponent?”
Black: “She doesn’t have a voting record.”
Kennedy: “Well isn’t that convenient.”
Hey, Mark, how about we agree to send Amy Klobuchar to the Senate for 6 years. When she has a voting record, then you can run against her. Wouldn't that be fair?
