I am not familiar with the votes mentioned in this letter to the editor. Has Smilin' Norm voted to filibuster?
U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman's word can no longer be trusted. Coleman has said time and again that every bill deserves an up-or-down vote and that he will never support a filibuster.
In fact, he did not support the filibuster against drilling for oil in Alaska last year, even though he has always said he is against drilling for oil in Alaska.
Last week, Coleman voted two times on the Senate Intelligence Budget bill 372. On both of these votes, Coleman supported the filibuster.
Actually, Coleman managed to vote every which way possible on ANWR in the span of 24 hours. And to trumpet every vote he made with a press release.
Coleman did vote against cloture on the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007 on April 17. Twice.
And I find this out hours after praising Coleman for being consistent in his opposition to the filibuster.
