First-ever email from my aunt, January 29, 2005:
hi everyone. [we] have just moved into the 21st century and added e-mail to their lives. we hope to hear from you in the near future and will be talking to you again in the near future. have a great february
Second-ever email from my aunt, February 17, 2005:
Fw: Applebees - Don't delete - enjoy!
My name is Bill Palmer, founder of Applebees. In an attempt to get our
name out to more people in the rural communities where we are not
currently located, we are offering a $50 gift certificate to anyone who
forwards this email to 9 of their friends. Just send this email to them
and you will receive an email back with a confirmation number to claim
your gift certificate.
Were I capable of sincerely expressing compassion, I'd direct her to
Applebee's FAQ. My efforts to educate about Internet hoaxes have been spectacularly unsuccessful. People would rather look a little silly than have mistakes pointed out to them, I guess.
Anyway, here's to email #3, where I either learn how to Make Money Fast or discover that the FCC is considering a regulation to ban all religious broadcasting.
