Gay marriage
California and Connecticut are considering legislation to allow gay marriage. The State House in Kansas voted to put an anti-gay marriage amendment on the ballot in April. The bastion of progessivity known as Idaho rejected a similar measure. In Canada, the justice minister introduced a bill to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide. Same-sex marriage is already permitted in 8 of Canada's 13 provinces.
