Republican Hopefuls

Dude, it's only Tuesday and it's already been a bad week for Republican Presidential hopefuls. After George Galloway
pantsed Norm Coleman last week, the door was wide open for Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty to ride his "no new taxes pledge" into the national spotlight. Reality intruded on Pawlenty's "spending problem"
mantra (the same mantra being chanted in
Washington,
Oregon,
California, and
elsewhere.) All of sudden, Pawlenty wants to raise
revenue. He calls it a fee, but Fiscal Evangelicals aren't buying that.
Meanwhile, the Senate's answer to the nation's feral cat population, is no longer a big Frist in a small pond of Presidential wanna-bes. Faced with a choice of subverting the Constitution or betraying Dear Leader, Republicans found a third way: they caved on the nuclear option and let Frist get caught in the landslide.
That leaves the door open for Rick Santorum to ride his man-on-dog-and-pony show all the way to the Republican nomination. That, friends, is an election we will win.
