Big hammer whack (that's a good thing) to Clever Sponge at Clever Peasantry who noted this first.
I voted "No" on permanent repeal of the Paris Hilton tax.
I also threw a dirty diaper at Smilin' Norm's visage on my computer, but that did not work out as I imagined it would. Gooey.

You're clever, D, what's the best way to talk about the Hilton Tax Cut? The Paris Hilton Endowment Preservation Act? The Paris Hilton Endowment Enhancement Act? The Paris Hilton Trust Fund Protection Act?
There's got to be a better way to describe the estate tax repeal, but I'm blocked.
the estate tax is responsible for the loss of numerous "family farms"
farmers often have land with a high value, triggering an estate tax penalty as high as 55% of the value of the property
the tax is required to be paid in cash within 12 months
obviously, many families cannot afford this tax and are forced to sell their farms--and we're talking about farms that have been in families for generations
call it the "paris hilton tax" if you think it's funny--but know that family farmers aren't laughing

I encourage you to review the estate tax issue. I think you will find that most of what you know is wrong. The number of family farms lost to the estate tax approaches 0, according to the CBO. The top marginal rate is 47%. Most of the time, any estate tax owed can be repaid over 14 years, not 12 months.
