Ya know, blogging about your vacation seems like a much better idea when you are not actually ON vacation. And after a few days of paying absolutely no attention to the news I have decided that I'm fine with letting the world pass me by for a week. I have no doubt that when I return next week Bush will still be dumb, Norm Coleman will still be a weasel, and Katherine Kersten will still be a talentless shrew. I have no doubt her Monday column sucked and the one tomorrow will too.
That said, I am having a fine time in Cape Cod. It's nice to go out in public and know you are highly unlikely to encounter gun toting evangelicals, or even a person with a Bush sticker on their car. I have been surprised at the number of Hummers on the road tho. Even tho we are staying one town east of Hyannis Port I have not yet been invited to the Kennedy compound. On a trip to Nantucket however someone did point out John Kerry's house (one of them at least.)
A tip to vacationing parents: if you are traveling with two four year olds one of the best things you can do is rent a place with friends who have a 6 and an 8 year old. Nothing keeps little kids occupied like following around kids who are a few years older. And when they're not hanging out with the big kids there is nothing quite as enjoyable as sightseeing while holding hands with a four year old.
