Dear Ms. Hammer

Via Atrios:

It's still under most people's radar screen right now," said Carl Neill, an analyst at Risk Management Inc., a natural gas consultant and brokerage firm Chicago. "The public has absolutely no idea how high prices are going to be this year. It's going to be mind-boggling. Price are going to be 50 to 100 percent higher for residential consumers than in previous year.

Dear Ms. Hammer: buy sweaters for the kids, because Casa de Hammer is gonna be awfully chilly this winter.

Oh, dammit.

If gas is going to be twice as expensive this winter, we'll have to turn the thermostate down by 50%. Sadly, that would endanger the pipes. I figure 34 at night, an even 50 during the day.

Think about it: when it's 50 outside in December it feels GREAT.
