In honor of my old college roommate
I have to post this just for my old friend Rusty who in our college days we often referred to as "the squid." But even if you don't know any squids personally I think this is pretty cool.

Damn!! I was going to post that later tonight!! How awesome is that? A Giant Squid. Did you see the picture of the tentacle that ripped off?

Yeah, I saw the NYT article last night which had a few additional pictures, including the tentacle. If I'm not mistaken cephalopods can regenerate limbs so there won't be a "one armed" squid out there for too long.
you are correct about that. In fact, it is one of their defense mechinisms.
