Old news but still interesting
I recently came across one of cp's posts from last week and was reminded of something about the World Trade Center design that has gone almost completely unremarked on in the American press--its connection to Islam. The Twin Towers designer was a favorite of the Saudi royal family and regularly incorporated a lot of Islamic design into his work, including the World Trade Center. Even tho most Americans are completely unaware of the connection, this fascinating Slate article suggests that Osama Bin Laden certainly knew all about it and likely was offended by it as well. At this late date the article is apropos of nothing but I think it is really interesting nevertheless. Check it out.
