Things that make you say, "Duh"

Posted by: Hammer / 7:42 AM

Not much more to say after reading Agape's latest:

The possession of child pornography by child molesters is becoming a common phenomenon, according to a study released by the New Hampshire Crimes Against Children Research Center.

After interviewing police investigators regarding a possible link between possessing child pornography and acting on it, researchers found 40 percent of porn users to be molesters. Once again, this trend of perversion is connected to the Internet.

Child molesters look at child pornography. Duh.

What interests me about this report is the passage I've bolded. If this is supposed to mean that only 40% of men who possess child pornography go on to abuse children, I'm a little surprised the figure is so low. But you could also read that to say 40% of men who possess any pornography go on to abuse children. This would mean that something like 39% of all men abuse sexually abuse children.

I don't think that's correct.
