War on terror

Around the world in 3 paragraphs...your war on terror
today:
- 87 inmates at Guantanamo continue their hunger
strike. A sizable chunk of America would rather the
inmates starve to death, so I don't think you're going to
sway public opinion much. Especially when so many Americans
have spent the last week on an involuntary hunger
strike.
- Afghani opiates continue
to flood Europe. Neither Hamid Karzai nor the British --
who will take over the NATO mission in May -- seem to know
how to respond. What are the consequences? "EU officials are
worried that the reconstruction of Afghanistan will be
increasingly threatened if the problem is not tackled,
fearing a return of the Taliban to power."
- The Baghdad airport was closed because the British
company in charge of security claims it hasn't been paid for
seven months. The company also provides security in the
Green Zone. I'm sure that bill gets paid. "[Global Strategies Group]
has about 1,100 employees in Iraq - mainly former Nepalese
and Fijian soldiers." Who better to deal with the ancient
desert rivalries than Pacific
Islanders and Hindu
mountaineers?
