This Duluth News Tribune editorial presents a tale of two Republicans. One running for higher office, one already elected to office.
Mark Kennedy opposes drilling in ANWR. He's the one running for office. Sen. Smilin' Norm Coleman (R-MN) is getting ready to break his campaign promise and vote for drilling in ANWR -- a move expected to shave about 50 cents off the cost of a barrel of oil, which translates to about 1 cent per gallon of gasoline.
I know, it's an obvious observation, but politicans are much more accountable when they're running for office. Remember, though, that Kennedy's ANWR pledge -- should he make one -- will be worth more or less as much as Coleman's.
