170,000? 170,000?

Posted by: Hammer / 8:56 AM

TownHall.com and a few other bloggers had a little chat with Sen. Smilin' Norm Coleman (R-MN), John Cornyn, Kit Bond, and others. TownHall reports Coleman's assessment of the economy:

Norm Coleman on the Economy: "The pro-growth tax policies of this president and this congress have made a difference... Over the last 12 months we have averaged over 170,000 new jobs a month."

170,000 new jobs a month? Faboo. Hey, did you know that in 8 years of Clinton the country added an average of 248,000 jobs per month? Real wages actually increased, too, only to stagnate again under Bush's watch.

Memo to Smilin' Norm: 170,000 is not very good. We had strong job growth in February. Great for Bush, below average for the Clinton years.
