Pat Kessler runs a Reality Check on Minnesota's Senate campaign. Conclusion? Kennedy and Klobuchar are basically the same. They've raised about the same amount of money and most of that money comes from the Twin Cities region.
That's fine, but if money is a story, Kessler should have clicked a little further. Kennedy has taken over $1 million from business PACs. In total, Kennedy has almost $1.5 million in PAC funds. Klobuchar has about $280,000.
Kennedy's donor base includes many people and PACs in the real estate, insurance, and finance fields. Nearly $1 million in donations from those industries so far. Klobuchar has raised $220,000 from the same sector.
Klobuchar's biggest support comes from lawyers and lobbyists. $457,000 to date. Kennedy has receive about $200,000 from the same sector.
Kessler's report is accurate, but would have been more useful had it highlighted some of the differences between the candidates rather than sticking to the similarities.
