Floor 1, Hammer 0
It's the 2 minute warning. Hardwood floors 1, Hammer 0. It's gonna take a miracle. Maybe I can get the band to rush the field with steel wool slippers on...

Hammer, are you sanding and refinishing? That requires patience, skill, a little luck, and lots and lots of X.
Spoiler alert: Peter Krause can sand a mean floor on X, or it least his character can on next season's 6 Feet Under.

I am sanding and refinishing. There are some very deep stains that I couldn't get out. Couldn't sand enough away, couldn't bleach them out. I think the worst part was when my lamb's wool applicator fell apart while I was putting the poly down. The other applicators were on the other side of the wet floor, so I had to make due. It was ugly.
I've got one last coat to put down before bed, then I'll hope it looks nice in the morning.
You did all you could, but that floor is just too f'ed up. At least now our kids can run around without fear of splinters.
