Redskins
We still have the Washington Redskins (aka the Potomac River Basin Indigenous People). In South Africa, on the other hand, names are changing:Council chairman Tommy Ntsewa said the approval came after the ANC-dominated group had deliberated for four hours. The name change has stirred controversy particularly among the white Afrikaner population.
...The last white president of South Africa, FW de Klerk, last week denounced the name change.
In general, the federal government does a good job of naming stuff. We've got way too may Ronald Reagan thises and thats, but with a Republican Congress and President, you learn to live with it. There's a balance between shifting between Saint Petersburg - Leningrad - Saint Petersburg and choosing names for cities that comport with the majority's view of who heroism and villainy.
Still, Washington Redskins is deeply offensive on so many levels. If the people of South Africa can throw off their chains and remove the stain of bigotry from "Pretoria", can't the NFL find a way to address the Redskins?

Jambo's a coward.
Jambo has a life to lead and having been thru this one with both of you before (and Newmie as well if he is reading this) I am not going to spend my weekend rehashing it.
Jambo is no fun today. OK, if that won't light your fire: Star Trek Next Generation is superior to the original series, I still prefer the Stones to the Beatles, the song Roadrunner is not a classic...

Oh, Jerjo, you know the first is untrue. The second is a matter of taste and the third is, sadly, true. But damn it, it should be! It should be there right smack dab in the middle of every K-Tel party disc ever made!
If you were not allowed to repeat yourself on blogs...well, you just are allowed to repeat yourself on blogs.
