Who are these guys?

Posted by: Hammer / 10:50 AM

The next time I say, "Let's go someplace like Bolivia," please remind me to check for coups first:
The head of Bolivia's armed forces has denied that the military is planning a coup and has criticised two officers for calling on the president to resign.

Commander-in-chief Luis Aranda called the officers' statement in a radio interview irresponsible and untimely.

The development came on yet another day of protests in La Paz by indigenous groups demanding a larger state role in the country's gas industry.

President Carlos Mesa has refused to step down over the crisis.

A new energy law came into effect last week.

Almost all the real problems in the world come down to energy and health care. The Bush Administration focuses on stopping gay marriage and risky privatization schemes. No wonder the American public sees George Bush as out of touch:
Six in ten Americans say the president does not share their priorities, while just 34 percent say he does -- the lowest numbers for Mr. Bush since the eve of his first inauguration. If there's any solace for Mr. Bush, it's that even fewer people, just 20 percent, say Congress shares their priorities.

Overall, slightly more Americans (48 percent) disapprove of the job the president is doing than approve (46 percent).

The 34% are made up primarily of the 10% of Americans who think they are in the top 1% of income earners and evangelicals who believe dinosaur fossils are relics of the devil left to confuse the faithful.

If I remember the poll from a few years ago correcctly 19% of Americans thought they were in the top 1% and another 20% believed they would be eventually.

I estimated conservatively. I think you are closer to the mark on the poll results. It's somewhere on 3WN, but I haven't bothered to search for it.
