Here's the most interesting part of the poll, to me at least. SUSA puts Minnesota as evenly divided between Republicans, Democrats, and Indpendents (33/33/32), but finds that 34% of Minnesotans are conservative, 43% are moderate, and 19% are liberal. Looks like all Minnesota Republicans describe themselves as conservative, but only half of Minnesota DFLers describe themselves as liberal.
The best news in the poll -- for me, at least -- is that Coleman's disapproval rating is up 4 points in a month.
Sadly, this has been a good week for Coleman. A new memo implicates Kofi Annan in a deal to give business to Cotecna Inspection, SA, the company that employed his son. The Volcker committee is investigating this new Oil for Food development. Plus, Coleman joined with Dick Lugar and Tom Harkin to introduce the National Security and Bioenergy Investment Act of 2005. The bill seeks to expand the use of bioenergy, including the use of hydraulic oils and plastics derived from soybeans and corn.
At least Smilin' Norm still can't pick a winner. The $5,000 Coleman gave Pat DeWine was money ill-spent. DeWine finished a distant fourth in the primary for Ohio's second congressional district.
