This is not a popularity contest. Well, actually, it is.

Not quite sure what to make of this list of
approval ratings for all 100 Senators. There could be a number of reasons why Republicans are 16 of the 20 lowest ranked senators and only 6 of the top 20 but I doubt that any of them are good news for their party. What's more, the top Rs are the two moderate women from Maine and maverick John McCain. If I had some free time I might go thru the list and see who is up for reelection next year and start making
early pointless guesses about future control of the Senate. (You'll need to scroll to the bottom to see them ordered by popularity.)

There are 9 of them with approval ratings at 50% or lower and 6 of those are Republicans. Dayton, who is not going to run again, is one of the three Democrats.
