Herbert or not, we reach, brother

Posted by: Jambo / 2:23 AM

Bob Herbert is pretty rough on W in today's NYT. Good.

This guy is something. Remember his "Top Gun" moment aboard the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln? And his famous taunt — "Bring 'em on" — to the insurgents in Iraq? His breathtaking arrogance is exceeded only by his incompetence. And that's the real problem. That's where you'll find the mind-boggling destructiveness of this regime, in its incompetence. Fantasy may be in fashion. Reality may have been shoved into the shadows on Mr. Bush's watch. But the plain truth is that he is the worst president in memory, and one of the worst of all time. Many thousands of people — men, women and children — have died unnecessarily (and thousands more are suffering) because of his misguided and mishandled policies.

[And I do apologize for the single most arcane post title of my ten months at 3WN. Jerjo picks it up or nobody, is my guess.]

I get it. Wow, what a reach. I do have issues with that episode, it was kind of a simplistic look at the counter-culture. Those people were so irritating I think if Kirk threw them in the tranporter and beamed them into space, no military tribunal would have convicted him.

Speaking of conviction, who does Dubya have to be a blow from before we can impeach the assfat.

I think it was one of those episodes that they had to do considering the times. Just like ER or CSI or whatever needs to have a rapper once in a while.

I remember when shows in the late 60s and early 70s started making clumsy nods to what was happening in the real world. It was, without exception, pretty embarrassing.

Do you play the vulcan harp brother? Ho-ho, that's now !
That's real now !
I reach that, brother. I really do. But, uh, would he shake on a session ? I mean,
we want to cooperate, like you ask, so I'm asking.
