There's a brouhaha a buzz about a picture of John Kline's face superimposed over Colonel Klink's body. (screenshot). Today, someone anonymously added to Coleen Rowley's Wikipedia page:
In an effort to highlight her moral superiority over Representative Kline, Rowley publishes on her website a picture of Kline wearing a Nazi uniform.
Kline wrote a letter:
Dear Mrs. Rowley, It has come to my attention that you have placed on your campaign website a doctored photo of me in which my military uniform has been replaced by a Nazi uniform. I demand that you immediately remove from your website that outrageous and disgusting insult to me, my family, and every man and woman who has ever worn a military uniform in defense of our country.
...
Kline, of course, is being hugely disingenous here. Rowley's staffer was clearly not comparing Kline to a Nazi. Rather, Rowley's staffer was comparing Kline to a bumbling Col. Klink, best known for shouting "Hooooogaaan!", not attempting to exteriminate a race of people.
Even more telling is Kline's silence on similar issues. When Tom Daschle and Max Cleland -- veterans like Kline -- were compared to Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, Kline was silent. When John Kerry's war record was falsely attacked by the Swift Boat Vets, John Kline was silent. Kline only cares now because he sees an opportunity for a campaign issue for himself.
