Well, this should put the whole immigration thing to rest I would think.
Leviticus 19:33-34At least it should among all those folks who take the Bible literally, right?'When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.'
Shame on you for not using the King James version. Everybody knows that the Bible came directly from God in King James english.

Hoary head? He's the KJV, with a few extra verses at the top:
[29] Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.
[30] Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
[31] Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
[32] Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.
[33] And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him.
[34] But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
I thought the bit about not pimping your children was excellent advice.
I don't know which is which but here you go, take your pick:
33. And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. 34. But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one horn among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
33When an alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. 34The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
"When an alien resides with you in your land, do not molest him. You shall treat the alien who resides with you no differently than the natives born among you; have the same love for him as for yourself; for you too were once aliens in the land of Egypt. I, the LORD, am your God.
"Do not exploit the foreigners who live in your land. They should be treated like everyone else, and you must love them as you love yourself. Remember that you were once foreigners in the land of Egypt. I, the LORD, am your God."
When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not wrong him. The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as one of your citizens; you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I Adonai am your God
"When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall do him no wrong. The stranger who sojourns with you shall be as a native among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God
Great post. I wonder if anybody will try to explain to the froth-mouthed right-wingers the fact that Leviticus is the chapter with the most explicit anti-gay reference. How are they going to juggle that one, as I am sure none of them have actually READ the text.
PS--Also don't forget Leviticus's stance on mildew. There is some crazy stuff in that chapter.

You're right on both counts, CL.
roughly two-thirds of undocumented immigrants pay the FICA payroll tax
I'm assuming that most of them will not receive back what they have put in.
And I saw something else interesting the other day, tho I forget where, that looked at the contributions of the offspring of illegal immigrants. Even if illegals are a drag on the economy, and it's not clear that they are, the second and third generations become very hard working and successful citizens and by all accounts a great benefit to the ccountry.
"And I saw something else interesting the other day, tho I forget where"
That is credible if i have seen it.
