Me? I got nothing.

Posted by: Hammer / 6:55 AM

I don't have anything new or interesting to say about today. I intend to go about my business as normally as possible.

You could talk about the Packers...

All I can do is attempt to politicize the event by pointing out an observation I had a number of years ago. When the towers collapsed all the private sector employees were running down the stairs. The only ones running up were public sector employees, and union members to boot.

Jambo, you know that I love you and your wife and your kids and I admire you and think you are special, and I am honored that you think so much of my wife and me, but I have to tell you, your comment is one of the dumbest things I have ever read.
btw, I agree with you on Erlandson.

I can only assume that is because you find all my other insights to be so stunningly intelligent that this one seems pedestrian by comparison. If not, then it maybe it's just be your wife that I like. ; ) That said, folks on the right are forever knocking the public sector and bashing unions. I just thought it would be nice to point out who might be included in that list.

Re 5th CD. Does that mean you are momentarily switching parties to vote in the primary?

I won't go so far as TRR, but I also don't agree with Jambo's comment. The firefighters and other rescue workers running into the burning towers were brave and selfless. They have become iconic heroes. I think we honor their sacrifice best by letting their actions speak for them.

Jambo didn't say this, but I think you can read his comment to suggest they ran into the buildings because they were public employees or because they were union members. That's troubling. However, I'm certain he doesn't believe that. I think he's saying that government can do good and unions are part of a vital tradition in this country. That in a dark hour, a frequent target of partisan attacks demonstrated a heroism all Americans can admire.

Couldn't have said it better myself. And apparently I didn't.

In fact, real Republicans do believe that.
