Jonathon Schwarz at This Modern World highlights more aspects of the Iraq War that don't often make it to the evening news. The Lancet-produced death count has been widely covered, but the numbers of Iraqis fleeing the country has been steadily underplayed. Over 1 million Iraqis have fled the country since the invasion. What better sign of the dismal conditions than that?
Schwarz's post compares Bush's language on Darfur to the reality of Iraq. I'm not sure I take Schwarz's larger point. However, the situations are clearly different. No one would seriously call the tragedy in Iraq a genocide, right?
