I find less to like about Maureen Dowd's writing all the time but she does on occasion have a way with words:

Watching the warring tribes in Iraq grow more violent has caused the beginning of a reconciliation among the warring tribes in Washington, as they realize they have to get the car keys away from the careening president who has crashed into the globe.

If she really believes what she rights, then how can she transition so effortlessly from claims that Bush is crashing the American car into extended ruminations on John Edwards' prettiness?

Dowd writes viciously, but that's all she does. It's amusing when she attacks targets we want to see attacked, but otherwise she's a distraction.
