Soul Asylum

Posted by: Hammer / 9:02 AM

Soul Asylum played First Avenue Monday night. Jim Walsh reviews the show for City Pages.

The show was originally scheduled for the Entry, but PA problems moved the gig to the main room. That left the band playing to a half-full room, with plenty of people who would've showed up if only they could.

Tommy Stinson on bass and one of Prince's drummers (the big guy that was in the Cream video, he wails on those skins), that's one kick-ass rhythm section. Jerjo highly approves.

Michael Bland. He also drummed with Paul Westerberg on his last solo tour.
