Short memories, double standards

Posted by: Hammer / 8:33 AM

Sen. Smilin' Norm Coleman (R-MN) says "Harriet who?" in Human Events Online:

If the Democrats threaten to filibuster will you vote to end judicial filibuster?

Sen. Norm Coleman (R.-Minn.): Yes. Absolutely. Judges deserve an up or down vote. I would hope my colleagues on the other side would not go down that path, but judges deserve an up or down vote.

Let's remember what is really being discussed here. Coleman is saying that he would vote with Republicans to say that the Senate rules never really allowed the filibuster of judicial nominees -- even though Republicans themselves have filibustered judicial nominees. Republicans don't have enough votes to change the Senate rules to eliminate the filibuster of judicial nominees, so they have to have Cheney declare that the rules never allowed the filibuster of judicial nominees. They need a simple majority to uphold Cheney's back door rule change, which they will probably get.

I just missed it. I was driving to Rochester last night and ran out of reception while they were rehashing the conversation.

There's much to learn from the vox populi on KFAN.

indeed. i think sports stations are the best place to learn about politics. political talk like am1500/1280 is filled with stock political characters. you know what someone is going to say from the minute they call in.

kfan is filled, for the most part, with callers who don't give a lick about politics. when politics come up, you get the average view. although, there has been a trend lately of some pretty 1280-ish callers on the barerro show.
