Saw this quote from Hillary Clinton on withdrawal of troops from Iraq:
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said the Pentagon is not even planning how to do it, but her best estimate is that one brigade or two a month can be withdrawn.
“Yes we want to begin moving the troops out, but we want to do it safely and orderly and carefully,’’ she said.
That's just bullshit. Surely if we can land some 130,000 troops in a single day under direct fire from entrenched positions, we could withdraw more than a couple thousand troops in a month. Put another way, if we have roughly 160,000 troops in Iraq now and could withdraw only 6,000 troops a month, it would take two full years to withdraw all American forces from Iraq. The insertion of those troops took but a few months.
While it would be both impossible and unwise to withdraw all American forces from Iraq in the span of 24 hours, we certainly could remove all forces in a matter of weeks, not years, should we choose to.
