My favorite moment of 2004
Jon Stewart on Crossfire:
[CROSSTALK]
Back in 2001, on the Daily Show's first night back after September 11, Jon Stewart demonstrated amazing grace. He explained that the view outside his office window had been of the Twin Towers. The Towers were gone, but he could now see the Statute of Liberty.
CARLSON: I do think you're more fun on your show. Just my opinion.
[CROSSTALK]
CARLSON: OK, up next, Jon Stewart goes one on one with his fans...
[CROSSTALK]
STEWART: You know what's interesting, though? You're as big a dick on your show as you are on any show.
[LAUGHTER]
From that day forward, Stewart has been as great as any television performance has ever been. He has been consistently hilarious and increasingly informative. The Hammer is duly awed.
