The Ocho

Posted by: Hammer / 12:20 PM

Finally, an excuse to to do a little Open Source blogging. Firefox 1.0.6 is out. I'll be installing it today. Meanwhile, Firefox 1.1 ("Deer Park") has been renamed 1.5, to be released in September. Ben Goodger explains. Version 2.0 ("The Ocho") is scheduled to ship Q 1, 2006. Firefox continues to claw away at IE's dominant market share:

In 2005, Firefox increased its market hold every month between 0.5 percent and 1 percent, NetApplications.com said. The growth has come mainly at the expense of IE, which slips with every Firefox increase.

There's a new release for the Open Clip Art Library, which lets you freely use over 4,000 images submitted from users around the world. Lots of neat, fun pictures, some of which have been used here...

I notice that in the last day or so 24% of 3WN hits were with Firefox and 14% with Safari. I look forward to the day when IE is less than 50% of our traffic.

I'm a crazy elitist, but I don't understand why anyone would use IE. I could understand if it just worked, but I don't think it works very well at all.
