There's no way to win an argument with these people
Unfortunately the Strib web site does not display all the pictures that accompany stories in their print edition, otherwise I could post the picture that almost made me give up on arguing about politics and public policy. This story, which contains nothing a mildly observant person doesn't already know, made reference to dueling factions of protesters in Crawford Texas and illustrated it with a picture of some on the pro-Bush side. It showed two people holding signs, one of which said "Cindy go home." But the other one was the one that got me. It said simply "Remember 9/11." Holy crap, almost 4 years later and there are still morons out there that think there was some connection between Iraq and 9/11. Seeing that makes me wonder why anyone even bothers with rational debate any more. When so many people are either incredibly stupid or willfully ignorant as to believe things that are demonstrably untrue what is the point in even talking to them? And don't tell me we can educate them or reveal the truth through our participation in the civic debate. Anyone who can still wave such a sign in 2005 is obviously never going to come around.
