Ba Ha Ha sends us another great item, this time from South Carolina:
The state Board of Education on Wednesday voted down a proposed revision to the state biology standards that would have required students to study the work of scientists who attempt to poke holes in the theory of evolution.
Shwew. That was close. But wait; there's more...
Donald Anadu, a biology professor at South Carolina State University, said subjecting evolution to scrutiny in the classroom is a good thing.
"It helps them to think and develop their mind," he said.
He said there is ample evidence that species change and evolve over time -- but not from one species into another.
"Some people are convinced that it happened, but they have no proof," he said. "You cannot go back and perform any experiment to show that this is true, that life started from one cell."
Science isn't dead in South Carolina, but it's fading fast at SCSU.
Completely unrelated... but I'm baffled and befuddled by something I heard on the Travel Channel...
just for kicks I was watching the start of the Inside the Mall of America marketing spiel piece and learned that
"Bloomington Minnesota has one of the harshest climates on Earth. The temperature can go from 100 degrees to -40 degrees in just a few short weeks."
thank god for tivo because I couldn't believe my ears the first time and had to listen a few times before it sank in that yes, they said that. I did live in Minneapolis and St. Paul for a few years- about 5 altogether and love fall in the cities most of all... but honestly never remember a cold front like that blowing in... I remember the Halloween blizzard... but not a 140 degree temperature change in one month... even with global warming. obviously they are smoking crack and should share.... didn't mean to interrupt your continuing coverage of intelligent design vs. the right thing to do, just wanted to know that the travel channel is out to keep people away from your neighborhood.
