Flipping through the news channels today, I thought I heard one of the CNN Headline News talking heads comment on the relatively quiet weekend in Iraq following last week's bloodbath. I wish he had been right. Instead we have this:
U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter went down in northern Iraq, killing all 12 Americans believed to be aboard in the deadliest crash in nearly a year, while five U.S. Marines died in weekend attacks, the military said Sunday.
I know most people see a difference between being killed in combat and dying in a combat zone. For me, I suspect that many of the accidental deaths in Iraq would not happen on U.S. soil. There's more room for safety when you don't have to be worried about RPGs.
